Electronics Recycling

Choosing Your Electronics Recycler

The consequences of irresponsible electronics recycling methods have been exposed in recent years: companies have experienced data security breaches when data is not completely destroyed. Also, news reports have revealed the widespread illegal dumping of e-waste in developing countries. If not properly managed, end-of-life electronics can expose your company to many risks when they leave your facilities, including:

  • Digital data breach
  • Environmental liability caused by improper disposal of equipment
  • Compliance risks

Important Considerations When Evaluating Electronics Recyclers

At Sims, the responsible management of end-of-life IT assets and electronics for our clients involves reducing or eliminating risks. On a regional basis, Sims is certified to many local standards.

MIDAS - Subcontractor Auditing

Vetted Subcontractor Network

In some regions, Sims uses vetted subcontractors to extend geographic coverage. To ensure that subcontractors meet our high standards of operation, we developed MIDAS, a process and software for subcontractor auditing and management. MIDAS enables us to systematically score and track subcontractors and downstream vendors. Our clients benefit from knowing that all processing is done according to environmental best practices, that processing is standardized, cost effective and compliant and that Sims offers transparency throughout our entire supply chain.

Some specialty services described are only available regionally.
