Recycling plays a major part in reducing the global CO2 emissions, energy and water usage associated with extracting and processing virgin raw materials. Parent company Sims Metal Management Limited is one of the world’s top 100 most sustainable corporations, measuring and reporting on a wide range of environmental factors.

We have participated in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the last four years and entered the Carbon Disclosure Project’s (CDP) inaugural Water Disclosure Report.
Sims Metal Management handled over 14.3 million tonnes of ferrous and non ferrous materials during fiscal year 2010/2011. The use of these materials, as opposed to virgin materials, saved more than 14.7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. Considering that the latest data shows that the world average CO2 emissions is just under 4.5 tonnes per person, Sims’ activities off-set the emissions of almost 3.3 million people.
Sims Metal Management, parent company of Sims Recycling Solutions, was listed as one of the Global Top 100 most Sustainable Corporations for the 5th year in a row at the 2013 World Economic Forum.
