refuse-top-dla-disposition-servicesThe Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Disposition Services is responsible for the reutilization of property received from our United States military services. Just as Sims Recycling Solutions is committed to the reuse of materials wherever possible, the DLA is committed to the repurposing of property to save money, minimize environmental impact and increase viability for the Department of Defense. For the past four years this commitment has allowed more than $2.2 billion worth of property to be reused each year.

In recognizing the need to continuously better its services the DLA recently announced an expanded agreement with Sims Recycling Solutions. Sims will be largely responsible for the disposal of IT and other electronic military equipment.

Working with the DLA creates an opportunity for both parties to support our shared vision of recovering resources in every capacity.

The DLA selected to expand this important role predominantly due to Sims’ ability to meet the qualifications and offer the best economic, compliance, and stewardship needs. This is a direct reflection of Sims Recycling Solutions’ culture to always maintain, innovate and improve the security and environmental processes of the electronics recycling industry.

“We are very excited to expand our service offerings with DLA,” stated Sean Magann, vice president of Sims Recycling Solutions, Americas. “Our best in class capabilities allow a level of confidence in data security and environmental compliance unmatched in the electronics recycling industry.”

Factors considered in this, and all serious disposal vendor selections include objectives such as:

  • Guarantee a secure and audited downstream flow of materials;
  • Employ world-class environmental health and safety (EHS) protocols;
  • Utilize irreplaceable experience required to seek and destroy all trace data;
  • Align with an e-Stewards certified recycler; and
  • Create less overall carbon emissions utilizing secure, provider-operated facilities

Working with the DLA creates an opportunity for both parties to support our shared vision of recovering resources in every capacity.
