Over the past 3 years, Sims Recycling Solutions (SRS) in La Vergne, Tennessee has shown both engagement and involvement in their safety programs by achieving over 100 persons trained in the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) for General Industry course. The course offered by the National Safety Council (NSC) covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in general industry.
SRS employees who completed the course now have the knowledge to define general industry terms found in the OSHA General Industry Standards, identify hazards, locate and determine appropriate industry standards, policies, and procedures. In addition, they have the capacity to describe the use of standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program.
With this achievement, SRS was recognized by the NSC and awarded the Safety Excellence Award. David O’Boyle, Tennessee National Safety Council Member & OSHA Compliance Training Consultant, presented the award to La Vergne’s Safety Committee members, Management, Safety, Health, Environment, Community and Sustainability (SHEC), and HR.
La Vergne’s reduced total injury time over a 3-year period, increased employee knowledge of safety compliance and programs, and involvement and empowerment among employees highlights SRS’ commitment to continuously strive to eliminate injuries and illnesses in the workplace. We believe excellence in SHEC practices is vital to the well-being of our people and essential to all aspects of our global ITAD and cloud recycling business.
